Rémy Julienne, car stunt coordinator of 'GoldenEye', dies at 90

French car-stunt coordinator Rémy Julienne passed away yesterday after battling coronavirus for two weeks aged 90, Le Figaro reports. Julienne has worked in every James Bond film from FOR YOUR EYES ONLY to GOLDENEYE, where he supervised the legendary car chase between 007's Aston Martin DB5 and Xenia Onatopp's Ferrari 355 at the Greolières-les-Nieges in the South of France. This sequence was meticulously planned by the expert as the DB5 was a car that couldn't be pushed to the limits as much as the Ferrari, which was driven by Julienne's son Dominique doubling for Famke Janssen.

With a credit in over 1400 movies that included the original version of THE ITALIAN JOB in 1969, SUMMERTIME KILL in 1972, RONIN in 1998 (with Sean Bean) and TAXI 2 in 2000, Julienne was also a former rallycross champion and 1956 French motorcross champion, and also assisted Renault and Citröen for commercials that required big-scale stunts.

Rest in peace, good sir. Photo credit: Laurent Perriot.
